The historical short story Crystal World by Victor Pelevinis based upon a small episode, which played an important role in the history of Russia. In 1917, on the eve of the Red October, when the Provisional government was thrown down by the Bolsheviks, Nikolay and Yury the two junkers fill in the time of their night shift with psychotropics and philosophical discussions. Meanwhile, some dubious characters, under different pretexts, try to get into Smolny. Among them appears the main character of the play, disguised in three different ways. His image is highly abstract, we know neither his name nor his age, but at the same time very precise, as we recognize in him the leader of the upcoming revolution.
